Maths

At Holy Trinity C of E Primary School every child succeeds in learning Mathematics and is excited by finding out about new concepts. Our children have practical, hands-on learning experiences, using resources to develop their mathematical reasoning. Throughout the year, pupils at Holy Trinity will develop their knowledge in Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division as well as Fractions, Decimals and Measures.

We have an up to date policy for written calculation methods to ensure that children learn accurate and efficient methods that build on their understanding of number.  Alongside sharing this policy with parents, we also run regular workshops for parents to introduce them to the methods used at school, so that they are able to support their child’s mathematical learning at home.

At Holy Trinity C of E Primary School we ensure that our children learn Mathematics in exciting ways, using real-life contexts and motivating problems to deepen their understanding.

Supporting your child with Mathematics

There are many ways you can help your child at home to reinforce their learning from class. Essential elements of Mathematics are:

  • Quick recall of multiplication facts (depending on year group expectations). Below are a list of online multiplication games and other online maths resources that your child will enjoy playing.
  • Quick recall of number bonds to 20 (by end of year 3). The importance of these cannot be underestimated or over emphasised as they are transferrable to addition and subtraction and other maths calculations.

If you have any questions regarding supporting your child with Mathematics, please do not hesitate to contact our school office at admin3204@welearn365.com
