Open the Book

As part of our strong partnership with the local community and Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, we are delighted to take part in the Open the Book programme.

Open the Book is a national initiative supported by the Church of England Education Office and the Bible Society, which brings Bible stories to life through interactive storytelling in schools. It is part of the Church of England’s wider commitment to education, working in partnership with schools to support children’s learning, wellbeing, and opportunities to explore stories, values, and beliefs within a respectful and inclusive environment.

Through engaging, drama-based storytelling, visiting teams share key Bible narratives in a way that is accessible and memorable for children of all ages.

We are proud that our school regularly welcomes members of Holy Trinity Church to lead these sessions. A particular highlight is the involvement of our Year 6 pupils, who take part in the storytelling and help bring the stories to life for the rest of the school. This provides a wonderful opportunity for them to develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills while supporting younger pupils’ engagement.

Open the Book is a valued part of our school’s wider enrichment offer, helping to build links with our local church community while supporting reflection, understanding, and shared storytelling experiences across the school.
